There are two camps on Ukhozi staffed by 10 full-time employees. Craig, Ukhozi's General Manager, has a Master’s Degree in Tropical Resource Ecology and has over 20 years’ experience in working in the bush.
The facilities include:
River Camp is situated on the banks of the Olifants River not far from the nearest crocodile. It is the reserve’s original camp and was renovated five years ago. It has six individual cottages each sleeping between two and four people (maximum 20 people sharing).
The elephant exclusion fence around the camp allows wildlife (especially impala and waterbuck) to visit the dam in the camp regularly. The extensive lawn is loved by warthogs by day and hippo by night. All the big five have been seen within the camp perimeter.
Its most visited place is cellphone-hill, the only place in the camp that has mobile phone reception.
The luxurious Cliff Camp is nestled against a cliff on the banks of the seasonal Mohlabetsi River. It is the owners’ private and newest camp built in a modern style first identified in the outback of Australia.
This is the second time the camp has been built, the first attempt currently resides in Mozambique... but that's another story.
